Tanya who??

Well, hello. Allow me to introduce myself. I am Tanya Berfield, Dr. Tanya B. You may have seen my social media posts, seen me at a speaking engagement, events that I have led, or even saw my first blog post on Oracle Cards and thought to yourself….who the heck is this chick? Or better yet, if you already know me you might be wondering what in the world is she up to? So, a little bit about me.

I grew up in a small town in central Pennsylvania. I still live there. I have a fantastic husband of 26 years (as of this post). I am a boy mom of 3, mother in law, daughter, sister, aunt, friend, educator, leader, healer, you know the drill - so many roles! I have spent the last 25 years trying to ‘fix’ myself. To find the magic bullet that was going to make me feel better about myself, to have the confidence to be myself, to feel like I am successful enough, pretty enough, skinny enough, fit enough, smart enough, kind enough, just enough, again, you know the drill. During that time I took courses and programs and got certified in so many modalities - fitness, nutrition, hypnosis, meditation, yoga, Reiki, Qi Gong, not to mention, received an associate degree, a bachelor degree, a master degree, and most recently a doctorate degree in Transformative Leadership.

I love to read. All the books! Give me a cozy mystery all day, everyday. Add a cup of coffee and I am a happy camper! Speaking of, we do a lot of camping - some might call it glamping. I’m OK with that. I love to be outside. I’m not an avid mountain hiker like many in my family but I love a good WALK in the woods. I am a dog lover - we have 3, along with 2 cats. I love to walk with my little dog Poppy. I don’t love walking the big dogs. They are stubborn and spoiled and it often turns into an MMA wrestling match for the world to watch. I love the beach and anything water. I love adventure although that doesn’t always end well for me. Think major knee reconstruction when my son tried to teach me to skateboard or a black eye or being catapulted while white water rafting. My family dubbed me with the trail name Stumbelina because I trip over every root or stone within a 5 mile radius. I’m very skilled in the realm of cursing, but I try to keep that in check. Haha I have a great sense of humor (I think that I’m funny). I laugh, a LOT. And one of my mottos in life is that I AM going to work hard, but I’m going to have fun while I do it.

I also love mottos, quotes, and sayings. I find the ones that resonate with me at the moment and use them as affirmations. Fortune favors the bold is currently on my list. Starting this business has me feeling very vulnerable as I put myself out there for the world to judge. It’s not easy, but you know, fortune favors the bold. That, for me, does not just mean money. It means success and accomplishment. It means helping others. Your vibe attracts your tribe is always a favorite. I’m sure I’ll talk about the frequency of energy at some point but you already know a little about what that means. Negativity attracts negativity. Positivity attracts positivity. It’s hard to be mad and grumpy when you are spending time with someone who is happy and smiling. If you’re catching on you are starting to realize that mindset is at the core of what I do and what I believe. Those affirmations can go a long way in setting or changing your course.

Motivation is another topic that I find very interesting. Intrinsic (internal stimulus or a desire to do based on your own beliefs and values) versus extrinsic (external such as needing to please someone else or because you have to) is fascinating to me! I have a very strong internal drive to achieve, to accomplish, to be my version of success. But I also am driven by others not believing in me or telling me what I can’t do. I can’t tell you how many times I have thought to myself - Oh yeah. Watch me. And damn if I didn’t stop until I accomplished that thing. Sometimes that’s the push I needed to accomplish that goal. I definitely do things my way and I like to be challenged and pushed out of my comfort zone. The edge of comfort is where we find growth.

Over the last couple of years I realized that I was not living up to my purpose. I was not living in alignment which is why I am always trying to fix myself and everyone around me. I feel called to empower women. Most especially, to help women achieve balance and feel success. To help them understand that they are enough. And that if they want to be their best for everyone and everything else, they need to prioritize themselves. I recognized that with the state of the world, the pandemic, the increase in mental health crisis and suicide, and the general unhappiness of so many, it is time for me to do something. It is time for me to start believing in myself, to start sharing what I know, to help where I can, and to start living in alignment with my purpose.

That’s where Dr. Tanya B comes in. My goal in starting this business is to offer services and events that help women be their best. #yourlifebetter. Check out my website and social media. Reach out if you have questions or would like to chat. I look forward to connecting with you!

All the best,

Dr. Tanya B
